teradata utility

HI all,
we are using API and TPUMP to update in abinitio.if records are below 5000,it uses API mode to update.if greater than 5000 it uses TPUMP to update.
API mode is working fine.but TPUMP is not working.when records are more than 5000,job is failing.
can any one please suggest on this.how we can update records more than 5000 using terdata utylity?
